Wales Qualify for Euro 2020 - Football
An Aaron Ramsey double saw Wales qualify for Euro 2020 tonight after a solid team performance from Wales.
Ramsey opened the scoring with a short range header after quarter of an hour following a quick move down the right hand side and a whipped cross from Gareth Bale. After starting slowly, that goal settled the Welsh nerves and they never looked back from there. Other than a smart double save from Wayne Hennessey mid way through the first half, Wales were rarely troubled by a labouring Hungary side, who lost their discipline as the game wore on.
Ramsey double his tally with an opportunistic finish after the ball dropped to him through a crowd of bodies from Kieffer Moore's attempted shot. From that point, Wales waited patiently for counter attacking opportunities to use the pace of James and Bale, who provided excellent support to Moore's strong centre forward play.
Ramsey, deservedly man of the match, was making only his second appearance in Wales' current qualifying campaign following his substitute appearance against Azerbaijan on Saturday. He could easily have had a hattrick, but his shot from 12 yards was smartly blocked.
Wales can now look forward to preparing for Euro 2020 without having to go through the pressure and stresses of the play-offs, which is where Hungary will head following tonight's result.
